1: Well, I used to draw alot when I was a VERY little kid. But y'know- that was bad art. But I think I took a BIG break for the whole next school whuch name I forgot, and then when I came to collège (idk if it's the right name, I just took the same word as my country ._.), I discovered TSaMS (The sun and moon show) !!! So I drew alot of it ! I mean that wasn't very good, but I was having fun ! (I still have the drawings btw!)

Then, at my bday last year, I got my phone ! And I started drawing digital with it on Ibis paint ! That's when I really became slowly better at art ! Then I played UT, and I came into the fandom, and gor really better :3

And at christmas I got my tablet, and now I'm here, drawing OCs and utmv stuff on digital for fun :33

Day 17 - Echo Art

Oh. My. God. (Rambles incoming)

This was so important that I HAD to schedule it so it posts the moment it becomes January 30th, 2025.

So, I saw this yesterday and initially thought this was really good fanart, BUT APPARENTLY THERE WAS A WHOLE SERIES OF OFFICIAL ART AND I DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL ALMOST A FULL 24 HOURS AFTER IT WAS RELEASED, SO I'M A LITTLE LATE TO THE PARTY, OOPSIE. Anyways, I've only seen a few of them but I wanna look into them all eventually. Now, here comes me overanalyzing this thing.

These echo arts are supposed to be how the character sees themselves if I remember right? I tried reading what they were supposed to be and I genuinely didn't understand, but I DO know that apparently these arts won't be fully understood unless we play the game in this entirety. That means I'm not gonna understand this art piece for like 5 years.

That fact, of course, made me scream in the middle of school because I WANNA KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON HERE!! Like, DIANA LOOKS SO HORRIFIED AND/OR DISGUSTED WHILE STARING AT (who I can only assume is) HER PAST SELF??

The first theory that came to mind is that she used to be a bad person, like horrible. That's why she's so nice now, she's working to better herself so she can never become the toxic person she once was.

Another theory is that physically something once happened to her which caused some sort of facial injury? Strange train of thought, I know, but hear me out. She looks absolutely traumatized staring back at herself. The version of herself on the floor is surrounded in darkness, but her face is glowing, while also emitting darkness towards current Diana, which I would assume, if this theory is somehow correct, is supposed to emphasize just how shocked/horrified she really is. This could also be an origin to why she's even a cosmetologist. If some sort of facial injury happened, she likely needed facial reconstruction surgery. It could've scarred her face, which could cause some insecurities. So what does she do? She covers it with makeup to make herself feel better and less insecure. Honestly, I feel like this theory is wrong and I feel more confident in the first one.

And actually, going back to the first one, I feel like, if it's true, that the whole message of Diana's character would be "there are some things that makeup can't cover." Just because you're a good person now doesn't mean you can cover up your past actions, no matter how much you've digressed from what you once were. You'll still be associated with that person you once were, no matter how much you don't wanna be them.

Now that I am seeing that written out, that seems too similar to Wolfgang and idk if they'd take that approach.

There are so many things I can say about this, genuinely!! Like one of my other initial thoughts, besides from the fact I thought it was fanart, was that it resembles the scene of Wolfgang getting electrocuted a lot, at least to me. I think that's what really convinced me it was fanart, because to me I thought somehow that was what Diana was dressed in when that happened??

Idk anymore, I'm very bad when it comes to theorizing and tbh this is a bunch of word vomit because I haven't had the chance to let this out anywhere else. I'd love to hear others' thoughts on this tho, because from the few echo arts I've seen they're just very interesting to me!! LIKE I NEED THE REST OF THIS GAME OUT ALREADY. AND I NEED THIS ART INJECTED INTO MY VEINS.

passing along top 5 games of the past 5 years

I couldn't whittle it down from 10 so I'm giving you top 10. I agree with your top 1,2,3, and 5, (I didn't play monster sanctuary but it looks fun) so I won't repeat those here. Otherwise, in no particular order:

1) Astalon: Tears of the Earth: I didn't expect to like this game AT ALL, and yet it became one of my favourites of all time. It has a mechanic where every time you die it puts you all the way back to the start, which almost turned me off it, but it's actually not as big a deal as it seems at first. It's full of secrets, like EVERYWHERE, and has such great art direction, the vibes are impeccable, and the music's great. 10/10 best game I've played in a long time.

2) Tevi: Another game I didn't expect to enjoy, and honestly it's a little embarrassing how much I did enjoy it besides its uhh.. cringe? it's just a fun game ok get off my back! At least it's self aware enough to make jokes at its own expense. Unlike me

3) Death's Door: I loved deaths door! The gameplay mechanics are so smooth and fluid, and the little crow guy is so freaking cute. I'm not very good at videojames, and this one really challenged me, but it was perfectly balanced for me to get frustrated trying to fight a guy and give up, only to come back the next day and beat it! The sense of achievement I got from Death's Door is something I've never got from a game before so A+

4) Tunic: I mean if you know Tunic then you know. Figuring out the language to a point where I could read and write it almost fluently by the end of the game felt really good, and makes me want to learn another language real bad, but I just don't have the motivation I guess. Good game though, great ambiance

5) Eastward: Eastward I feel like it could be cut in half and still be one of my favourite games. I think the "action-y" parts are kinda unnecessary, they just made me want to get back to the parts where I'm just walking around chatting to people. More just hanging out, less having to whack stuff with a frying pan please. The farming dlc is great too but I broke it by doing some quest out of order or something, idk. It was apparently fixed in a patch, so I'm definitely going to go back and play through the entire game and the dlc again at some point

6) Jack Move: This is just a fun little cyberpunk rpg thing, very basic, only about 5 hours long, but is wonderful in its simplicity. Like its just rock paper scissors battle system, so it's not overly complex or anything, not much of a challenge, but the writing's great and the pixel art rocks, what else do you want?

7) Wytchwood: Another one I picked up on a hunch and really enjoyed. The art style is like wierd at first but actually works really well. It's a lot of running around gathering ingredients and doing witchy things for nursery rhyme characters, very fun, great writing, good comedic timing, just an overall good time.

8) Baldo: I was hanging out for Baldo for yeeeeeaarrrsss, and was it worth it? Maybe!? It's a little janky but like scratched a particular itch for me, all the way up to the last like, literally 30 seconds. The ending SUCKS dude, like really bad. And it's like so sudden just a 30 second cut scene that ruins all the hard work you put in. Fucking.. unfinished at the very least, super disappointing. There's been a couple of free dlc for it, and mayyybe fixed the ending?? I might to hurt to find out though.

9) Another Crabs Treasure: It's soulslike crab baybee! I've never thought that I'd like soulslikes because I'm not good at vidgam and the selling point seems to be that they're hard. Idk I don't want to just lose all the time, I play 1 draw infinite klondike solitare just because it's easy and I like to achieve something. Crab's not that hard though, it is fucking JANKY as hell on the switch though, I couldn't even see one boss I was fighting towards the end because it was running at like 1 frame a minute. Still beat him though. Also fuck that prawn.

10) Bug Fables: Bug fables is like what if Paper Mario Thousand Year Door was good, which it is, but Bug Fables is too. The bugs are cute as hell and the fighting system is really good. I mean it's cute bugs, they're cute!

I kinda speed run this event and I have thoughts: Why are the event cards not related to the event story?? I like the stage outfits! Would have been cool to get cards with them *sad sigh* also was there a 'kiss' option with Simeon and I just chose all wrong options?

I only got to hold hands when we bowed on stage. Tho this interaction with him was pretty cute! Overall I think the event was all over the place and kinda dry. (I feel it may have been a bit more exciting for Mammon stans).

dol anon back and JUMPING FOR JOY!!!! i'm so curious what love interests you liked and which soft end you got (i have a guess but 🤫) and everything. pls. also i'm begging for you to drop your pc design i'm sure they're so cute <3 there is so much to do in dol i don't even know where to start sometimes, like the entire cooking system was just added a couple weeks back and i have barely touched it out of fear lol

I am still definitely early in discovering everything, as splitting time between files is hindering forward progression, but I still have plenty of thoughts 💪 (especially bc I've also been scouring the wiki)

My trial run PC is a lovely lady named Mela, who I don't currently have a good screenshot of. Imagine a dead anime mom in a happy flashback, that's her. Anyway, she's So Fucking Clumsy, exceptionally talented at tearing her clothes on every school desk, tree, gust of air... she's so fucking expensive. Mela, please.

Mela was me playing safe (largely being devoted to school), and I put my fucking life on the line trying to complete my science fair project only to get hunted by Eden. I made a separate save file just to see through Eden's bad ending, and ended up really enjoying her as a love interest—btw, why is ALL the fan art of Eden a dude??? She's obviously hottest as a huge scary woman. I kinda want to draw her.

I'll likely continue Mela's regular save state (didn't get past week 2 of normal life), but it was moreso training wheels and exploration than roleplaying a character I'm actually attached too.

My other current file is playing as my OC Dulce, who is a perfect fit for this game. There are so many other Dulce-esque characters already written in, the biggest being Whitney (all Whitney fanart is SOOO Dulce to me). I haven't met the ranch hand yet but he's apparently an alcoholic, which also reminds me of Dulce. Dulce is gonna slut it up & drink & do delinquent shit & dance, very excited to see where it goes. Probably is gonna try to pursue Whitney bc they are matchies.

I'm gonna make other PCs too, there's so much to investigate. Sydney, for example, absolutely fascinates me. So fucking cute, but also such an obvious little creepazoid. And SOMETHING is going on with him, but idk what yet. So many fucking red flags. Corruption kinks aren't usually interesting to me but I desperately want to see where that goes, too.

Robin is very cute. Sydney & Robin are currently my two favorite love interests, bc I'm honestly a sucker for vanilla romance. Kylar is a yandere & I don't enjoy yanderes so I'm not excited about him. I have a future playthrough in mind to pursue Avery—he reminds me of Fujieda Slow Damage (which is funny to me, bc this game feels like the perfect enclosure for Towa Slow Damage. Who i might play as). Also I'm really mad the Ivory Wraith isn't a love interest, she FASCINATES ME and I love how she talks and I want her so bad.

Miscellaneous thoughts: all the teachers need to be fired immediately and I hate the forest with my entire being.

What the origin of your blog title? I was going through a bit of an art history phase when I first came up with it. 1) I was reallyyy into Van Gogh at the time. 2) I also knew I wanted something a bit funny/off beat. Thus, “vincentsleftear”. It’s been a while since then and I’ve moved on from the url on other platforms but I’ve kept it here. Idk, it just feels special :)

OTP(s) + ship names: ugh, where to start!! Right now Siuan and Moiraine (siuarane aka fishwives) have me in an absolute CHOKEHOLD. Of course, there’s Alicent and Rhaenyra (rhaenicent). I’ll be a Gerri and Karolina (Gerrolina) truther till I die and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to think about Agatha and Rio (agathario) and NOT go crazy. If I’m remembering correctly, my first real introduction into the world of shipping was Narcissa and Lucius (Lucissa), though I don’t really interact with the source material anymore for obvious reasons. Of course, I’ll always return to the two who INVENTED the game, Mulder and Scully (MSR).

Favorite color: Love blue but if we’re looking at the evidence it’d probably be green lol. I’m surrounded by it! My phone, my computer, my headphones, my bedspread, my decor! All green! On the other hand, my friends and family are always clowning me because apparently I almost exclusively wear white. I mean, they aren’t WRONG but istg it isn’t intentional! What were you like as a child? Super chatty, incredibly hyper with a complete inability to sit still, and loud. I wasn’t a bad kid but it was things like this that got me into trouble at school *quite* often. In the beginning, I tried really hard to be a teacher’s pet but I found out quickly that it just wasn’t in the cards for me. So I became the class clown lol.

Favorite subject at school? I really enjoyed English and Literature but my favorites were definitely my social studies classes. History, human geography, government, politics!! Those were my thing!

Least favorite subject? MATH. Geometry was (and still is) my mortal enemy.

What’s your worst character trait? Chronic procrastinator. I tend to withdraw or getting a bit mean when I’m stressed/overwhelmed but that’s something I’m working on!

If you could change any detail of your day right now what would it be? The weather has been soo bleak recently. No sun, just rain and cold. Also! Over the past few days my government has been repealing protections (some of which have been in place since the 60s) that prevent discrimination on the basis of race, sexuality, and gender. Consequently, as a Black gay woman, I’ve been living in a constant state of intense anxiety and panic. So. That. I’d change that.

ok the reason im thinking abt sonic again is i went on a little sonic.exe deepdive. i was watching some vids abt horror fangames / romhacks (i rbed some green mountain & coronation day stuff) and i went on from there

honestly i was never a huge creepypasta fan & i thought sonic.exe was corny even when i first read it as a little babby so i was never like, into it even though i was a big sonic fan when it was first popular (i do remember a lot of people drawing self ship art with the spooky hyperrealistic blood sonic though which was kinda funny looking back). plus there was all that shit with the original creator recently. but i guess a shitton of people made their own versions of the story and i think theyre actually pretty interesting. my personal favorite takes on it have to be sonic pc port, rewrite and no more innocence.

i really like joedoughboi's artstyle and i love how expressive lord x gets to be. somehow the weird human teeth add so much character.

i love rewrite's approach and the presentation really sells the concept a lot better than the original did imo. rewrite feels more like an accidentally creepy e-rated game than he does like something trying really hard to be scary, and the aspect of a weird extradimensional entity pretending to be a popular video game character is much better executed.

and no more innocence is so straightforward but so good. it feels more grounded in the sense that its horror doesnt fall fully on needing something to die, which i like. also i loveeeee the design and artstyle. it kinda reminds me of the dreams i used to have before i was medicated. it's so surreal, it just feels otherworldly, like something your subconscious mind would create. (side note: i do feel like even my dreams were different before i started taking lexapro, which is probably a weird thing to attribute to an SSRI but seriously. i wouldnt say they were necessarily "scarier" because my dreams have generally always been pretty lucid, but they were definitely... grosser? more visceral? a little lynchian? idk you had to be there)

i will say that i had no fucking idea how much shit there apparently was outside of the original pasta. like "sonic.exe" himself is supposed to be like a yog-sothoth-esque extradimensional entity that steals souls. which i had no fucking idea about. my first impression was that everyone was going with the "haunted game!!!" thing, which, supernatural horror honestly kinda falls flat for me a lot of the time esp when it comes to ghosts, but knowing its more of an old one type situation kinda makes it "make more sense" to me somehow

5. Which character do you relate to the most?

i think out of the main cast, i relate most to niko, but i also relate somewhat to kashi—and i mean, the night nurse said they were alike, so that makes a kind of sense XD.

niko reminds me specifically of a version of myself i USED to be, or like, one that's lying dormant. she's awkward and reclusive and extremely literal with her language, and once someone takes her out of her box she's super friendly, but she doesn't know how to get HERSELF out of the box, so she needs a friend who openly and unashamedly enjoys her presence and invites her along to things (like edwin!). i'm getting better with socializing, but that definitely reminds me of MYSELF with the whole social vampire thing of, like, i wont interact with you in depth unless you invite me first. she also has a lot of knowledge about random and frequently creepy things (see "long pig"), which i relate to on a spiritual level, AND she has an incredibly bright and exuberant fashion sense, which i feel is the case for me as well. ALSO!! aro niko is basically canon as far as im concerned, and idk if thats because its actually viable; because i, an aro, projected onto her way too hard; or both of those things. honestly, it's kind of a surprise i'm not more obsessed with her, but maybe this is exactly WHY i'm not. her character's already familiar to me because i grew up with her in my head.

as for kashi, it's more like. specifically his view of his life and past experiences? like, the way he goes "really im not sure i HAVE any trauma" and night nurse goes "YOU WERE SWALLOWED BY A GIGANTIC FISH" and he smiles all wistful and goes "ah, one of life's many adventures!". even when i have bad experiences don't necessarily enjoy them in the moment, there's a part of my brain that's like. yes!! negative emotion!! so refreshing and fun!! this is evidence that we are human!! this is a symptom of life!! yes!! how joyous!! like i was a fucking alien in a past life or something and the little alien remains of my soul are so utterly fascinated by every aspect of human existence, whether its grim and painful or fun and full of love. so. me and kashi 🤝🤝🤝

8. A headcanon you have (that you havent seen talked about yet)!

idk if this counts as me not seeing it be talked about yet because the whole thing that SPURNED this headcanon was seeing someone offhandedly mention that crystal would probably be good at drawing due to having rich artist parents, but i imagine crystal being kind of an artist herself (and in fact ive written 2k words of fic about it! its on the backburner at the moment tho). her fashion sense is very reminiscent of the way an art kid would dress (see: ME), and it just feels like it makes SENSE given her parents' profession and how she might have been raised, growing up around art. i also feel like little kid crystal, seeing how much attention her parents gave to the OTHER artists in their installations, might have tried to gain their attention for herself by getting really good at art, before she realized the problem wasn't anything she was or wasn't doing; it was just her (or, more accurately, it was the fact that her parents were neglectful pieces of shit who probably never should have had a child).

19. Favourite actor from the show?

i don't really get into the actors of shows on a personal level, although i do love watching behind the scenes and interviews of them just goofing off and having a good time, so for this question—i don't really know? george rexstrew seems like a very nice and down-to-earth person, and jayden just seems cool and fun(ny), but they're all pretty much just guys (gender neutral) to me.

if we're talking acting... man idk, they're all so good. this being george's first onscreen role out of theater school is fucking amazing, he absolutely killed it, and the sheer DEDICATION is awe-inspiring (i think i read that he actually took ballet classes to help him walk and move like edwin?). all jayden's micro-expressions and actingchoices as charles blow me out of the fucking water, and kassius made crystal feel so real and genuine, and... yeah, i could go on XD.

i think a lot of people have a similar feeling about this game. you play as neku, recently deceased kid with no memories no friends and a whole lot of attitude and your main goal is to survive the reaper's game for 7 days to get a chance at living again. he trusts no one and believes in nothing but himself and being an extremely depressed middle schooler, i related to him but watching the way he changes over time and learns to open himself up. its kind of an eye-opener and i've seen the same though echoed through a lot of different people like me who wanted to really give up but this game does take you by the hand and oush you to try again. make connections. live and whileit may be a struggle its alright because you always have the option to keep going. also the ost is AMAZING and the art style is very unique and the story and characters captivate you so well. idk where id be without this game honestly. preferably if you do want to play its best to play the og on a ds (can be done w/ a hacked one) but if not its on switch and theres a sequel! which is ok but its not as great as original twewy

2. Tales of the Abyss

ToA (or tota as most ppl tag it but i stick with toa to match the tags for other tales games. which are also good esp vesperia i just wont add it to this list bc its already gonna be a long one). what stood out to me a lot with this game besides the main cast who i love to bits, is its theme on religion actually. when i first played toa i was still in the church and the main theme of religion in toa can be boiled down to devotion is all fine and good, but don't let it rule your life. the fate that is written out for you doesn't rule you, you make your own choices. even if they seem futile, you still don't have to take your fate sitting down you can kick and scream and fight as much as you want towards another path if that truly is what you desire. and that resonated with me heavily. this one's a little more crunchy looking from its age but i still really like the graphics (and i played on 3ds lol) and the environments in tales games are all so stellar its such a good game. and oh my GOD the party interactions. tales games usually do really good at having main casts that are "6-8 people who have no business being stuck together but they are anyways" and i think the part for this one will always be my favorite. also last little bit but theres so much about identity in toa as well and the way the main character, luke, is written with his own struggles about feeling like his own person has gripped me to this day. ive heard this one is hard to find a physical copy of but like. again shoot me a message if u have a hacked 3ds

3. AI: The Somnium Files

i've been here since day ONE (not exactly but theres a youtube page for one of the characters they were using to drop some info before the game released and i was watching while that was still going so. close enough). i am obsessed with aitsf. my icon is even the main character (edited a bit and w/ stickers). this game doesn't have combat like the first to and is strictly a visual novel and i adore the way it explores the central theme of love, especially familial love and its many shapes and forms and how sometimes even through blood it just doesnt. exist. but that doesnt mean you dont deserve love. someone will be there to give it to you and if not you take it however you can. this is much more apparent in the left half of the game which to this day has made the mizuki route my favorite. this one's eveywhere (playstation, steam, switch) and goes on sale frequently on steam for like $7. this one also has a sequel which is pretty good but again i think the original is much better

4. Heaven Will Be Mine

honestly with how many people i see daily gushing over poetry and writing im surprised more dont play hwbm. its a space mecha visual novel set in the aftermath of a war where earth sent children to go fight an existential threat which may not have even existed and now all of those kids are adults who have grown up without the shackles of society on the earth which js funny enough, finally calling for them to come back. the writing is beautiful and fun to pick apart and if you're a fan of prose i definitely think you should give this one a try. double of you're lgbt in any way this game is good for its writing about queerness especially if you're trans. please play hwbm. this one's on steam and doesnt have a sequel game but the devs, worst girl games, also made We Know The Devil which i like less than hwbm but its still pretty good! that ones got gay religious trauma

listen i know theres some strange bias some ppl have gainst rpgmaker pixel games but like. 1) odd but ok 2) witch's heart is such a beatiful story i need you to throw whatever biases you may have abt pixel games RIGHT NOW. my header text comes from this game. it means everything to me. do you have a wish you would kill for? does your wish mean more to you than another's? how much will you let your selfishness control you. for a game that looks so silly it made me cry a lot. this one's free on vgperson's translated game list and theres still MORE BEING MADE. SO MUCH GAME. FOR FREE. LOOK AT ME. ITS FREE. and heartwrenching.

a rhythm game this time! it's got a cute little story mode but it is just a dubstep rhythm bullet hell i like playing. did you know i was a dubstep fan in middle school well now you do and im sad skrillex is mid now. its on steam and switch. not a good pick however if you are sensitive to flashing lights or have epilepsy im sorry. i believe there are safe modes but i havent tested them myself to see how well they work

Paranormasight

paranormasight is a horror visual novel illustrated by gen kobayashi who, if you can tell from the linework on the sprites and in the portraits and what have you, illustrated for twewy. i'll be real i was ready to screan and cry 30 minutes in but its not actually that scary im just a wimp. this one could be seen in a similar vein with witch's heart in the idea of: what would you do to fulfill your greatest wish. how many people would you kill. because you will be killing. on steam and switch.

Bustafellows

for being an otome bustafellows rly got me. while being an otome it is still plenty silly but heavy with fun characters. also i think this is the first time ive really liked an otome mc they tend to be very waify and kinda annoyingly written tbh but teuta is a VERY fun character and not at all a stand in for a self insert. or at least she isnt good at being a self insert which is fine to me because i love a main character that has their own personality. a guy dies like 10 minutes in. this ones on steam

P.Renoir was racing against the Nevrons (of Dark Shores?) in killing as many Expeditioners as possible. With every year, Aline gets weaker as more chroma is locked away, and p.Renoir gets even more desperate maybe?

I'm so glad that someone else who is smart came to this same conclusion. If he kills them before the Nevrons do, then that means at least their chroma returns to Aline? And they were going to die anyway. AND they were threatening Aline (even if it was not a serious threat yet) and we know how Renoir reacts to that. It's so interesting that he wanted them to just stay home, but he literally never speaks to any of the creations, he only looks at and speaks to his daughter and son, compared to real Renoir who addresses them. And yet Painted Renoir also talks about their hopes and dreams and their love for each other in a way that real Renoir does not. I also love that he appears in the same spot that Expedition Zero landed, it's great foreshadowing.

I'm honestly willing to let whatever little details slide with this because Renoir entering the scene as an Incarnation of Death that stalks relentlessly through the story is so thematically relevant. Like, he's the figure who has come to remind you that your brother is dead. He is the one who has come to remind you that your dog is dead. He's the one trying to remind you that reality is reality and death is death. It's so good just on that metaphorical and character-defining level alone because that IS what his character is there to do! So I'm ok with it because of that and because he does take Aline's safety extremely seriously and personally.

Maelle being described by Gustave as lonely and her wanting to just run away, and that Lumiere is not her home like how it's Gustave's

this is also another reason why I could never choose her ending because even MAELLE didn't think she belonged in Lumiere. Even Maelle didn't want to be there, and knew it wasn't right.

It must have done his heart so good to see her again like that, after so many years, and to see her so confident and active. His relationship with her gives me so many feelings. It also makes me laugh so much that he apparently can talk (Aline can talk as the Paintress) but he simply chooses not to...? idk I love him.

I also really love that Renoir spends the entire game in their camp and understanding everything that's happening on a deep level, and that he can always see how Alicia is doing. I like that he DOESN'T want her to have to help him (he told her to stay home and to stay put), but he also maybe doesn't want to dampen Alicia's determination since she's found some... or maybe he's gotten desperate and time is running out. I like that he's completely informed and he probably knows and is touched by Lune and Sciel's stories as well, when he's making his decisions at the end.

I was thinking about wolraha and their ancients (mine are Apollo and Prometheus) and their shards. As I recently gushed about in the tags of a piece of art of a wol / g’raha in Clive and Joshua’s outfits,I do strongly believe in the parallels between their (wol, g’raha/ Clive, Joshua’s) character archetypes / situations / relationships. I was trying to come up with other shards of azem (ardbert, og golbez) and then I remembered… TENZEN.

You know who was devoted eternally to Tenzen and loved him more than anything else in the entire world and is horrified when someone not quite him starts to try to kill them. Suzaku, the PHOENIX.

A couple of addendums

- Given the different lore of the games I do not actually believe that 16 is a shard of 14 but they were written by the same group of people and there are truly a hilarious amount of parallels that can’t just be brushed off as “it’s a final fantasy game of course it has all these other references that every ff game has”. It’s funny and cool to think about

- Some similarities (which I outlined in the notes of that post) between Joshua and G’raha include 1) Seeking ancient knowledge 2) They are MC’s biggest cheerleaders and their relationships have themes of devotion, protection, inspiration. 3) Mc feels incredible guilt loosing them and when they come back they hide from Mc for months while wearing a cowl. 4) they become more and more corrupted as their journey continues, and they, well, rise from the ashes. (At least that’s how I took 16’s ending credits) And finally 5) Their voices are sooo similar??? I literally thought Joshua was voiced by Johnathan Bailey until I looked it up.

- I’ve thought a little less about this but my Clive is an azem shard thoughts are mainly that they’re both being groomed by a god into shoving as much aether in their mortal body as possible because for some reason they’re ✨Special✨. Also the “being selfless to a fault, always going the extra mile for other people and never checking in on themselves” seems very wol to me. I’m sure a lot of it can be chocked up to “being a ff protag” but idk I’m sure there’s more I’m not remembering.

- I in no way endorse Clive and Joshua being romantic/sexual, love comes in many forms. But also the ancients are based off of green gods and you know how freaky those guys were.

- Honestly my wolraha situation is more of a queer platonic relationship because my wol is pretty ace, but, like I said, love comes in very many forms!! My only solid HC for my Azem / G’raha ancient’s relationship is that they were very very close in an ambiguous way. BFFs forever. Across the cosmos, space and time, etc etc. Not every relationship their shards have will be the same type! Mostly platonic soulmates but sometimes more!

- Who was Ardbert’s Prometheus? Probably Lamitt. She was Ardbert’s first party member and was searching for a cure for a disease that turned her people to stone. 😔 sadly an all too familiar thing for Prometheus shards apparently. Her virtue name is Sophrosyne which means soundness of mind, temperence, being well balanced, etc. I think G’raha would have gone insane in the first if he didn’t have those qualities!!! (Well balanced. All rounder 👀) (edit: also remembered that lamitt was exiled from her clan! Like g’raha :( (edit 2: sophrosyne works really well for Prometheus from mythology too, god of foresight and critical thinking and all

- Not necessarily Joshua I guess but all those other potential Prometheus shards have BIG themes of unrequited love which is, I guess just to point out another parallel to connect them all. (Not that *my* wolraha is unrequited but the writing in the game does truly make it seem like G’raha is constantly trying to confess to the wol and they’re kinda oblivious. I get that that’s how they have to write it because not everyone will interpret their relationship that way but it’s a good data point!)

-Was also thinking of another firebird we have in 14, Azeyma. Her description by Oschon, being a person who was jealous of azem because she wanted the job, would be very funny as Prometheus’s true identity but idk, she wasn’t sundered that whole time and so couldn’t have any shards. Maybe she was someone related to one of them, as she also holds a lot of parallels with Azem themselves being a sun god and all. (Even if you don’t think Azem is apollo, their symbol on the crystal is the alchemical symbol for the sun while all the other 14 are the 12 + 1 secret zodiacs). She is also a goddess of knowledge which ive established as being an important thing to Prometheus and their shards. Idk!! My wol and g’raha are seekers of the sun,,,,,,

- don’t ask me about louisoix’s Phoenix I simply do not know. I don’t want to do the trials of bahamut again.

most of dora's facts stemming from harry's dream version of her, or jean who's only ever heard harry shitting on her, makes it hard to figure out what she's like. i get that's the point but i'm so curious. would she really think he's a poverty-stricken fuck if they lived in that matchbox with fleeting electricity if she wrote that letter that's so full of infatuation? her parents paid for their life and harry's RCM training but for how long? was she still an arts academic? obviously at some point the last straw on the mountain of straws made it fizzle into nothingness but... idk i can't help but feel the letter & dream-dora stating she fell in love with harry at first sight from how Cool he was, being a form of worship on her part too, an innocent version. "I wanted you to be the rest of my life that day." and along the years that worship tipped over to a detrimental degree on harry's side. and even the dream version of her who spits back the things most likely said durimg arguments, goes from frustration to pity to wistfulness, but what made it sadder to me was how long the phone call can go on for. dream-dora says she moved on so bluntly and lists all the things she dislikes about him, but phone-dora's patience shined through even when harry's saying shitty stuff to her. she could have just hung up immediately and never pick up again the first time he rings her

so going off this, the following are personal headcanons

i imagine she dated harry in an act of rebellion, harry joined the RCM to increase his Cool Factor from high school gym teacher to badass superstar cop (i think the game says she pushed him towards it but i view this via harry-lens where she is a God who caused everything) and along the way as he deteriorated it brcame kind of sunk-cost. along the way she became pregnant, and maybe when the old harry shimmered through she thought they could make it work, but reality hit and she terminated it. i honestly feel like she'd do so alone. and now i wonder if she had any friends or if dating harry made her isolated. did anyone support her leaving him? i'd imagine her parents were thrilled to hear it.

from how open harry is about his thought processes, and how painful it is to him to hear dream-dora demean them, i felt that real-dora could have apreciated them during their good days. i imagine anyone harry knows that intimately who also supports all his voices and brain compartmentalization can easily become someone he worships because of how rare that'd be for him. because how else would he be with her for that long if she hated those parts of him right off the bat? like, all these acts of humanity made him raise her higher and higher until she reached a status she could never act out, she is not perfect, she's just a person, she is a person i'm suddenly so interested in. during harry's fledgeling RCM days i bet she asked tk hear how mr. law brought justice but it quickly became apparent that, not only were the tales depressing, he was throwing himself into work so hard. married to the job. dora having to sell her collected art pieces to get by. and one day harry asks to sell one that's extremely precious to her and that's when she put her foot down and asked her parents for assistance. maybe it was a figurine. time went on as RCM life consumed him, and harry forgot what made dora tick but he never forgets the fact that she loves figurines

more tame but, harry having art cop as one of his copotypes, what if he picked up that notion to impress her? i don't know if she'd teach him art critique herself but like. so much of harry's personality is bending himself every which way to impress someone. i mean i can kind of see how that'd be an addicting person to date knowing he and dora broke up and got back together before. tripping over himself a hundred million times to impress her or win her back. i know for a fact the 'i have a vast soul' thoughts harry can express are him internalizing things she said about him

it could have been easy for the writing to demonize her but it was so apparent that it's harry's twisted view. god the writing of this game. picking out parts of who dora is from inside harry's imprints in the world.

Some random thoughts on Obey Me! Nightbringer up to lesson 10 (with LOTS of spoilers)

If you ask why I'm making a post like this in this blog is cause I will defend that this is a queer coded game to my last breath –and cause is my blog and I do what I want.

Full disclosure: I'm not done with the first game yet so no spoilers for that one please. I'm guessing I'll get spoiled by Nightbringer anyways as the story progresses, and I already did lol, but I wanna gush about this game because I love it so much already.

Starting with the title screen, oh my gosh the art is beautiful. 10/10 would definitely buy a poster of this.

They continue using they/them for MC and that's a thing we all gotta appreciate. Thank u.

The layout and the art of the game is just SO PRETTY in general. Definitely an upgrade from the first game, credits to the designers and artists.

It's a rhythm game!! I like it, the gameplay is easy enough and in classic Obey Me fashion you gotta be really precise when you click or else, which adds a good layer of difficulty.

We don't have 8 different types of support items, just 4, which makes it easier to keep count of how many we have. I am still broke in-game to buy them tho.

WE CAN GET DEVIL POINTS BY COMPLETING LEVELS THANK U SO MUCH. In contrast, I feel like they give less materials when you clear a stage? I mean, they gotta balance it I guess, or maybe is just me.

The game was lagging like hell when I first started playing tho. Idk if it was the game or my phone that couldn't run it or what, but it's fixed now.

I love the fact they're using the character songs for the levels!!! I was waiting for the unit songs and they took a while, but they're there too. The remixes are fun and I can't believe how good they sound.

Speaking of sound, this game's ost is SO GOOD like huh? I was kinda expecting it cause it's a big production and all but bruh. Every now and then I end up having to stop because I gotta appreciate the bgm. There was this one funny song where a banjo started playing and I straight up laughed out loud. 10/10

Hey so y'know how you can click on the characters and get voice messages in the home screen and how you interact with them in the surprise guest screen? In neither of those I can click on Levi's tail and I consider that a crime against all Levi stans.

OKAY SO when this game was announced and as time went on and we got little pieces of the plot, not gonna lie I was worried. When it comes to time and time travel this franchise has a, well, a record. I'm still worried how it's gonna develop but for now I really like the things they're showing in the main story regarding the characters and the plot. Just, y'know, fingers crossed it doesn't become a mess.

Honestly the timeline is a mess already as it is. We met Luke and he has apparently just started learning how to bake, but in the first game he says he's been doing it for about 300 years, so it's been only 300 years between the end of the Celestial War and the beginning of the first game? Shouldn't the time be at least a few thousand years?? I'm solving this by doing a headcanon that time moves differently in different worlds cause otherwise the lack of coherence bothers me too much.

I'm so intrigued about Nightbringer himself. You think the prologue is giving us a red herring about who he is? Will it be a new character? An old one? Us from the future? They did a good job in implementing the mystery and I can't wait.

just anything honestly. i hope that having some time off in the summer will give me the energy to do more art again.

my new tattoooooo and also wearing rings. i'm constantly having to resist temptation to buy new ones

can't think of anything because i can never remember what media came out which year or when i did anything lmao

i wish i had one but i'm not sure i do!

a vacation. also some warmer weather would be nice. maybe soon!
